Interesting Fact About Me
I was suppose to be born an Aquarius (January 28th. I day after my parent's birthday), but I was born Nov. 9, not breathing & blue. I'm a Scorpio. My parents shared with me that I spent over 2 months in NICU. And had surgery to place to shunt (it's still there by the way. Folks can barely see/feel it.
Dr.s didn't think I'd make it to my first birthday. They were wrong. lol
I think part of the reason I feel drawn to birth work AND pregnancy and infant loss work is because I was born a premie and was in NICU. When I was born, there was a type of loss (of control of outcome, skin-to-skin, cuddles/hugs) And so much grief (with my surgery, with my parents doing to NICU every single day, and rude ass nurses, not being able to take me home when they wanted to)
I know a part of my work as a birth and pregnancy and infant loss advocate is to ease grief, be a buffer for it for parents. Being born a premie helps me understand loss, which is a part of many pregnancies & births.
