This month, I’m FINALLY reading “Revolutionary Mothering: Love on the front lines” Edited by Alexis Pauline Gumbs, China Martens and Mai’a Williams. It’s one of the 7 books I need to read for my Full Spectrum Doula training with @birthingadvocacy
One of my favorite writings from this book has been The Creative Spirit: Children Literature by the late and great poet & writer June Jordan. I understood so deeply when she said, “I believe that the creative spirit is nothing less than love manifest.
The first time I read this, I instantly thought about the sacral chakra. It’s part of our chakra system, located above our belly button. Our sacral chakra holds our creative energy, our sensual & sexual energy as well. When that chakra is unbalanced or closed, we struggle with finding ways to express our resourceful nature & we suffer from low libido. It’s difficult to manifest love when our sacral chakra are shutting down on us.
I think that June Jordan helped to remind me that when we are loving folks, our work, ideas, etc, we are bringing inventiveness to the forefront of our lives. We’re showing ourselves and other folks that we are magical beings who are loved (whether from self love or community love) and creativity remains the roots of that sacred foundation.
Happy love day, folks! Shine your creative spirits everywhere!
